Basic Safety Training or BST is one of the Certificate of Proficiency is required owned by every sailor. Based on the IMO (International Maritime Organization) information about the skills certificate sailors agreed in 1978 amendments to STCW in 1995. For sailors who worked on the ship Roro, Ferry, and Passenger STCW rules can be seen in STCW Code AV / 2. Indonesia as one of the members of IMO, the existence of these rules, each member state must monitor the sailors and educational institutions to make reports about things he had done with regard to quality education and training standards that run the IMO each year and audited fellow member states.
Some of the rules contained in about 1995 amendments to STCW Code AV / 2, namely:
* Basic Safety Training * Familiarization Training * Crowd Management Training * Crisis Management and Human Behavior Training
And all certificates issued by each member state has recorded online and is valid for 5 years (except for familiarization training, because it is done on the boat) and can validate after it expires. Basic Safety Training provides information and instructions about what should be done by each crew in emergency situations or emergency. To obtain a certificate BST every sailor must attend training from an approved institution in terms of survival techniques or Traffic in the case as follows:
* The procedure to communicate with fellow workers on the ship about safety issues.
* Understand and know the information about the symbols, signs clues, and safety signals on board.
* Knowing the procedures for the MOB (Man Overboad), fire or smoke detection and alarm to leave the ship (Abandon Ships Alarms)
* Identify the assembly (Muster) and embarkation stations (where the lifeboat was launched and entered the passenger into the boat from the deck of the ship).
* Identifying an exit route to the muster station on the ship (Escape Route)
* Knowing the location where the safety vest (Life Jackets).
* Knowing the procedures for the use of fire equipment (Fire Extinguishers).
* Knowing the fastest procedures in the accident taking action medic or other emergency.
* Knowing the operating procedures of fire extinguishers (portable fire extinguishers), weather-tight doors (steel door protecting the ship from bad weather, usually in mooring deck / open deck), and water-tight doors (steel doors that can be driven by hydraulic opened / closed manually or remotely straight from the bridge / bridge).
To obtain the certificate participants must BST average training for 8 to 10 days. Participants in the training provided learning in theory and practice. For the theory and practice schedule depends on from where we take the training. There is one interesting thing about the training that one of his teachers told me it meant BST Learning With Sleep (I'll post more about the MTC next time). But clearly if you do feel has never sail (working on the boat) I suggest you take training in Pertamina Jakarta. In addition to professional staff, the training is really based on the rules given in the IMO STCW 1978 amendments to 1995. lets imagine that classes start from 7 am and 4:30 pm was finished hours, so tired .... But Indonesia is also clear his name, would also place wherever there may be set (via the back door) with the cost of course more expensive. Easy hopefully useful for all and thanks a lot for all of you.
